Every VP of Sales has 3 key managing responsibilities and roles at the company:
- People manager: Build a successful sales team
- Customer manager: Provide exceptional customer experience
- Business manager: Attain the business and sales goals
- Sales Manager: Create and manage the system for the sales force
Originally this was covered by one of my favorite resources on Sales Management (ZS Associates) and they wrote about the first 3. But I would also add one more “Sales Manager” because there is a lot more that has to do with a Sales System, Process and so many other things related specifically to selling. I cover more details in the “Key Attributes of a Successful VP of Sales”
What else? What are some other thoughts on the key roles of a VP of Sales?
